Royal Ambulance is the medical provider for Burning Man. We build a hospital in the desert. Twelve days, dust, helicopters, ambulances, and the best team I've ever worked with.

I'm Royal's Director of Creative Operations. Years ago I was an EMT who took photos on shift. Burning Man is where I get to do that again. I walk around with a camera and stand in awe of our team.

This is what they do.

Twelve days. Then the city packs up and trucks out like it was never there. We delivered a baby. We treated more patients than I want to count. The team did everything you'd expect from a hospital, and most of what you wouldn't.

The baby made the New York Times.
